Appstorm Technology
Appstorm is a seamless combination of server hosting, application delivery, enterprise security and directory based user and computer management. Servers can be hosted on a high availability platform capable of tolerating hardware failures and their functionality can be delivered to offices and mobile laptops through a variety of methods.
Delivery is through our Appstorm web portal. Any windows 7 computer*can visit our web portal with internet explorer, sign in with their dedicated login, and launch apps straight away. Because the apps are running on our servers, you can run the most demanding apps on the lightest computers – even netbooks! These apps can also interact with your server as well. For example, you could have a hosted Electronic Medical Records (EMR) server hosted on Appstorm and use the web portal to run the client software needed to interact with the server. In situations where very high speed is needed between the server and the client software Appstorm enjoys a massive performance advantage compared to having the server and client software interacting across the internet.
Another method of delivery is to have the applications delivered directly to your desktop and start menu. If your Windows 7 computers* and network are being managed by Appstorm, then applications can be added on demand to our servers with icons published right to your computer. When launched, they will be run in the same manner as they do when launched through the web portal.
We support several other methods of connection into your hosted applications and data, such as via a site to site VPN. This directly connects your office to our network and allows designated systems to interact with each other. This will allow your whole office direct access into your hosted servers. For example, we have one client for whom we run their enterprise employee time management application on Appstorm. A site to site VPN allows the end user software installed on all of their local computers to interact with their hosted application. A site to site VPN will also allow Appstorm to manage all the windows computers on a network and put them into a domain so that the office does not have to buy its own domain controller and other servers.
Lastly, for laptops and computers that do a lot of traveling or work from remote locations but still need to be connected into Appstorm we offer a new type of always-on VPN technology that allows computers to always be connected straight into our system no matter where they are (as long as they have internet access of course). This allows for active directory management of your computer, access directly to your servers, and application delivery straight to your desktop.
